It’s easy to praise heroes for saving us from evil. It’s not even difficult to root for anti-heroes and vigilantes. For the most part, they protect us. But we hardly think of how fine the line can be between becoming a hero and becoming a villain. The Dark Knight portrays this line very clearly.
At the beginning of the movie, we already know that Batman is an anti-hero. He uses questionable means of going about his heroic deeds. He shoots bad guys, tosses dogs around, and spies on all of Gotham through their cell phones. Yet many people still have faith in him. They believe that he is a “silent guardian” and a “watchful protector”.
